Geonkhali, a small village in the Purba Medinipur district of West Bengal. This is a perfect picnic spot where three rivers meet. Damodar, Rupnarayan and Hoogly. For complete relaxation, this spot is an ideal place. The scenic beauty of Geonkhali attracts lot of tourists every year. The flavor of Bengal village is present here.It can be reached by various ways. But via Nurpur is the shortest among these.
I started from Esplaned bus stand for Nurpur by a private bus. it took 2hrs 30min to reach Nurpur, a small village in south 24 pargana. One can take a launch for Geonkhali from there at an interval of one hour and it takes almost 20minutes in launch.
It is situated at the confluence of three big rivers namely Damodar, Hooghly and Rupnarayan. Nearby lies the water project developed by the Haldia Development Authority, where it comprises huge water tanks adorned by fir trees on all sides.
