Geonkhali Tour

Geonkhali, a small village in the Purba Medinipur districof West Bengal. This is a perfect picnic spot where three rivers meet. Damodar, Rupnarayan and Hoogly. For complete relaxation, this spot is an ideal place. The scenic beauty of Geonkhali attracts lot of tourists every year. The flavor of Bengal village is present here.It can be reached by various ways. But via Nurpur is the shortest among these.
I started from Esplaned bus stand for Nurpur by a private bus. it took 2hrs 30min to reach Nurpur, a small village in south 24 pargana. One can take a launch for Geonkhali from there at an interval of one hour and it takes almost 20minutes in launch.
It is situated at the confluence of three big rivers namely Damodar, Hooghly and Rupnarayan. Nearby lies the water project developed by the Haldia Development Authority, where it comprises huge water tanks adorned by fir trees on all sides.

Festival of Colour!!!!

Holi is the spring religious festival of Hindus. It's observed all over the India, and West Bengal is not an exception. It is also known as the Basanto-Utsav in bengali.
In Shantiniketan holi or basanto-utsav has a special musical quality. You can taste the festival of colour here in a different way.
This year we planned the photographic tour in Shantiniketan just one day advance, so we didn't have any opportunity to get a hotel room or reservation in train. We started from Sealdaha railway station by Padatik Express at 22.55Hrs, and as usual we just managed to board the train somehow, no scope for sitting at all! We reached Bolepur at about 1.20hrs next day and took rest in the Bolepur station. In the early morning at 4.30hrs after being freshen we started for the Viswabharati.
Then we had an excellent and colorful photographic journey there. We observed the joy of color and vigor of youth in the spring festival there.
At about 11hrs in the morning we left Viswabharati and took our lunch in a hotel in Bolepur and came back Kolkata by Shantiniketan Express.
